My Story

Hello, I’m Michaela, founder of House of Lexden, an interior designer working across Essex, Suffolk and further afield.

​

I have always been drawn to art, design and architecture, and my love for interiors has been a constant throughout my life. I studied Film at degree level before going on to study Interior Design, bringing together creativity, storytelling and spatial awareness in the way I approach every project.

 

I moved to North Essex in 2008, where I started a family and undertook a large renovation project of my own home. This experience shaped my understanding of how a home needs to function in real life, and how spaces evolve as families grow and lifestyles change. 

 

Before moving into interior design, I worked in music and film, later running my own successful London-based television agency. As a Television Agent, I specialised in matching Researchers, Producers and Directors to the right projects across channels including BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

This experience shaped the way I work today. I see design as a form of matchmaking, bringing together people, spaces and objects in a way that feels natural, considered and completely personal.

​

I believe a home should reflect the people who live in it, a collection of pieces that hold meaning, evoke memories and create a sense of comfort and belonging.

​

I am particularly drawn to antique and vintage furniture, and love to mix old and new to create spaces with depth, character and individuality.

My style is classic and timeless, with a modern edge, blending considered design with unexpected details that bring personality to a space. Creating calm, considered interiors, with a subtle edge of personality.
