Why is there a charge for the Site Consultation & Survey?
Before I can prepare a proposal for a bespoke interior design project, I need to properly understand your home and the scope of the work. The £195 Site Consultation & Survey allows us to spend time in the space together, discussing how you live, what you would like to change and how you want your home to feel. I’ll also take the measurements and photographs I need to establish the design brief and prepare a tailored proposal for your project.
What should I prepare before we meet?
Before your visit, I’ll send you a short questionnaire to help me understand your project and priorities. You’re also welcome to share photographs, plans or inspiration you’ve collected. Don’t worry if you haven’t worked everything out — helping you find a clear direction is part of the design process.
How long does the design process take?
Every project is different, and timings will depend on the size and complexity of your home and the scope of design work involved. I’ll outline the anticipated design programme in your proposal so you know what to expect before we begin.
What if I don't like the design?
Designing your home is a collaborative process, and I’ll spend time at the beginning understanding your taste, how you live and what you want to achieve. I’ll then develop one considered design direction for your home and present it to you, explaining the thinking behind the scheme. Your design includes a consolidated revision, giving us the opportunity to refine the scheme following your feedback.
We already own furniture and pieces we love. Can you work with them?
Absolutely. A home feels far more personal when it reflects the people who live there. If you have furniture, artwork, antiques or other pieces you would like to keep, I can incorporate them into the design and consider how they work alongside the new elements we introduce.
Can you recommend trusted trades?
Yes. I have relationships with a number of trusted trades, suppliers and specialist makers and can recommend the right people where appropriate. If you already have trades you would like to use, I’m also happy to work alongside them.
Can you help us bring the finished design to life?
Yes. Once your design is complete, you can choose to implement it yourself or appoint House of Lexden for Professional Delivery. This allows me to remain involved as your interior comes together — procuring the pieces we’ve selected, liaising with trusted suppliers, makers and trades where required, and helping to make sure the finished space looks and feels as we intended when we designed it.
