CAMBRIDGE ROAD, VICTORIAN VILLA

Project Type

WHOLE HOUSE RENOVATION & INTERIOR DESIGN

Location

Lexden, Colchester, Essex

THE BRIEF

A complete renovation of a Victorian family home, designed to feel calm, elegant and unmistakably personal. House of Lexden was brought in to shape the interior from the ground up, guiding colour, finishes, lighting and layout across the whole house, while respecting the period character of the building and creating a home that genuinely supports modern family life.

THE DESIGN

Every room was considered as part of a connected whole, rather than a series of separate decisions. A carefully developed whole-house colour scheme runs through the home, giving each space its own character while keeping the overall feel cohesive and intentional. Finishes were chosen to celebrate the villa’s original architecture, enhancing period details rather than competing with them and lighting was used to shape atmosphere room by room, so the home feels warm and welcoming at every time of day. Throughout, the focus was on creating spaces that feel quietly sophisticated and deeply personal to the family who live there.

THE RESULT

The result is a layered, characterful home that feels both elegant and effortless to live in. The original Victorian architecture is celebrated and brought to life, with a calm, considered interior that works hard for a busy family — proof that a period home can feel timeless and modern at once.
